Greetings,

Over the years GSHA members have seen some fantastic conferences. It gives us,
separated by time and distance, a once‐a‐year opportunity to reconnect with old friends and
establish new connections. The last few years we have been introduced to the newest
developments in DNA testing and the latest tools in understanding and interpreting those
results, as we travel the road of Hispanic genealogy.
The GSHA conference is one of the bedrock events that GSHA provides to our members.
Recently, an invitation was extended to all three of our chapters asking if they want to be the
host chapter for the 2020 GSHA Annual Business Meeting and Conference. All three chapters
have declined.
For this reason, the GSHA Board of Directors is extending an invitation to the general
membership. GSHA needs one or more members to step forward to be the chairperson of the
Conference Planning Committee. You will be provided with guidance from the GSHA President
and GSHA Board of Directors, but it will the responsibility of the chair and committee to do the
major planning.
If you are a leader and like a challenge, please contact me or GSHA Secretary, Jeanette
Martinez for further information. The deadline for response is Dec 20, 2019.
GSHA Bylaws requires us to have an annual business meeting, but we are not required
to have a conference. If no one comes forward, there will be no conference and the business
meeting will be held online.
Don’t assume someone else will do this. Call today if you are willing to serve.

Utah Chapter Rocks!

Jeanette Martinez, Charlene Garcia Simms and Abel Santistevan attended the Roots Tech conference in Salt Lake City March 1. Chapter president, Margie Victoria Delgado, and other Utah chapter members arranged a gathering at Maria Garcias' house. We were treated to a feast and the hospitality was wonderful. More to come about our Utah gathering.
