Hola GSHA membership,

For those of you who attended our 2019 GSHA conference and annual business meeting, you know that Charlene Garcia Simms announced her resignation as President of GSHA, which took effect the Monday after our conference.

For those of you who were not at the conference and have not been informed by your respective chapter representatives, please be aware that Charlene Garcia Simms has resigned as president of our society.

The Executive Committee of GSHA (Frank Dominguez, Jeanette Martinez and Ron Maestas), had a running e-mail conversation about this matter and we all declined to step into the office of the president.

However, we have had a GSHA member willing to step up and offer to serve as President for the rest of 2019 and all of 2020 (effectively serving out Charlene's term).  This person is well known to all of us and brings great experience to the board, and that person is Bob Craig.

I called for a motion, among our GSHA board to nominate Bob as the President.  The motion was made, seconded and the matter was open for discussion at the board level.  The "Yes" votes for Bob were overwhelming. The GSHA board is pleased to announce Bob Craig is now the President of GSHA.

Please welcome Bob back to the role of President and let's throw our support behind him and the board to keep GSHA alive and functioning.

Saludos,

Frank Dominguez

Utah Chapter Rocks!

Jeanette Martinez, Charlene Garcia Simms and Abel Santistevan attended the Roots Tech conference in Salt Lake City March 1. Chapter president, Margie Victoria Delgado, and other Utah chapter members arranged a gathering at Maria Garcias' house. We were treated to a feast and the hospitality was wonderful. More to come about our Utah gathering.
