About Us

Our Purpose

The purpose of the society is to promote on-going genealogical research, through the study of family history, tracing lineages and recording ancestral information.

Our Objectives

FACC will establish and maintain an ever growing repository of books, Catholic Church records, films, journals, films, CDs and other pertinent documents for conducting family research.

Benefits of Membership

In addition to the researching, networking, socializing and informative presentations at our monthly meetings, the publications and resource library materials listed below, provides additional information and inspiration to help you in your family research.

 

  • The Fray Angelico Chavez Chapter Website and Facebook Group are very useful sources for your genealogy research. The website: 

  • facc-genealogy.weebly.com, includes an Events Calendar, Videos of presentations, a list of our library resources, links to other sources including original records on film. Our Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/faccgsha is a great place to converse with others, including well known genealogists.

  • The Genealogical Society of Hispanic America (GSHA) newsletter, Noticias de Nuestras Raices is issued to members only on a regular basis throughout the year. It includes a wide assortment of genealogical information pertaining to the three GSHA Chapters.

  • The GSHA Journal NUESTRAS RAICES, is an extensive publication of continuing research, articles, maps, drawings, photographs, records and other pertinent information relating to genealogy, history, culture and traditions. Members receive no more than four journals and no less than one annually.

The Fray Angelico Chavez Resource Library is an expansive collection of books, historical documents, tapes, videos, CS’s and journals owned by the FACC. These valuable resources contain genealogical information such as birth, christening, marriage & death records. Some research information is a one-of-a-kind or no longer in print and only available through the FACC. Materials are available for check out monthly during our General Meetings on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
