Visiting Taos, NM

Taos, New Mexico embodies the Land of Enchantment. The beauty and mystique of the surrounding mountains, the old town plaza, nearby church missions and the Taos Pueblo are just a few of the places that make Taos special.

VISITING TAOS, NEW MEXICO

One of the most fascinating places to visit in the Land of Enchantment—New Mexico, is Taos. Taos Pueblo has been inhabited for roughly 1,000 years and the City of Taos since about the late 1500s. They share interesting history.

TAOS PUEBLO FEAST DAY: The sounds and sights of the Pueblo during feast days is a once in a lifetime experience. If you’re lucky enough to be in Taos on June 24, plan a visit to Taos Pueblo for their annual San Juan Feast Day. See https://taospueblo.com/taos-pueblo-event-calendar/ for ticket information and etiquette reminders.

SHOPPING: Check out the Plaza shops adjacent to the plaza. You’ll find a little something for everyone as you stroll through the modern shops or take a break while you enjoy ice cream or savor a cup of coffee in the fresh air.

CHURCHES: Attend mass in an old Catholic Mission like your ancestors might have done; then take a guided tour afterward! See the conference registration form for tour tickets.

ART: If art is your passion, tour the Millicent Rogers Art Museum, Taos Art Museum or Harwood Museum of Art. Also, don’t miss the three artists’ works currently on display inside the Sagebrush Inn & Suites Hotel.

HISTORIC SITES: Visit the famous Martinez Hacienda where you will see how the family lived during the 1700s or check out the Mable Dodge Luhan Historic House.

You won’t lack for things to do in Taos and the surrounding area. Come a few days early or extend your stay into the July 4 holiday weekend to make this conference an extra special experience!

HELPFUL INFORMATION:

This year we will be holding our Dress as Your Ancestor Event on Friday evening at 6:00 pm during the President’s Reception. Join us to watch or, even better, participate in the fun!

We’re working on details now for our Raffle/Silent Auction. Bring something to donate and bid or buy raffle tickets for your favorite items.

Lunch is on your own on Saturday, June 27, but the hotel may be able to set up a BBQ for hotdogs and hamburgers so you don’t have to leave the premises. More information to follow.
